CHASSIS:
The Chassis is the original John Tojero designed 3” tubular rail ladder with cross-member. This chassis is reproduced using drawings obtained from AC cars with alterations made to the rear end to allow the fitment of inboards brakes, fuel tank, spare wheel, and rear exhaust as per original CSX2000 car. The 3” tubes are tig and mig welded to guarantee a safer and stronger chassis. This is much stronger than the arc and gas welded originals. Pain staking efforts were made to reproduce the chassis as close to an original as possible. Building the cars with a meticulous eye on authenticity took time, but this resulted in superior driving experience.
BODY:
The Shelby CSX2900 bodywork is all Aluminum. Effort was made to produce a body as close as possible to follow every line of the first CSX2000. The body features include the following as per the original CSX2000. These features also distinguish the CSX2000 from a standard MKII. • The subtle fender flares added to the front, and rear of the body. • The longer trunk panel as per AC ACE. The trunk panel is 86mm (3.4”) longer to the front of the car in relation to the MKII Cobra • The lower trunk panel replicates CSX2000 the prototype. The trunk panel is 35mm(1.38”) lower compared to the boot panel of the MKII Cobra • Front and rear overriders • Correct position and use of the Ceandess petrol cap • Hood latch covers/escutcheons • Windscreen frame-no sun visor or wind wing mountings • Grab handle • Roll bar with stay
FRONT & REAR SUSPENSION:
Front suspension on the tribute CSX2000 consists of a transverse leaf spring, MKII Cobra style control arm (with hem joints for adjustability), a MKII style vertical link/stub axle and rack and pinion steering. The rack and pinion steering and suspension of the MKII was selected for the CSX2000 tribute car to improve overall driving experience and stability of the car. Rear suspension on the tribute CSX2000 consists of a transverse leaf spring, MKII Cobra style control arm (with hem joints for adjustability and a MKII hub carrier/rear upright, with the deletion of the caliper mounting lugs. The MKII rear hub carrier/upright was selected for the CSX2000 tribute car because of its improved design and strength compared to the original.
FRONT BRAKES:
Girling B-Type cast iron caliper. Solid disc Ø11.5” x 9/16”
REAR BRAKES:
Girling 12/3 cast iron caliper with integrated handbrake mechanism. Inboard mounted on differential. Solid disc Ø10.75” x ½”
ENGINE and TRANSMISSION:
Recommended 289 with a B.W T10.
All Shelby products are supplied complete, but without engines and transmissions. The selection, purchase and installation of the drive train are the responsibility of the purchaser.
The only car of its type to be approved for production, each handcrafted roadster will have a Shelby serial number (CSX2000-2009) and MSO from Shelby American. The roadsters will come as completed rollers configured for a small block Ford V8 with a Borg Warner T10 transmission to be installed by the customer or shop of their choice. Owners of the limited edition “sport car” – as Carroll Shelby called it – can choose their color and whether to install the optional rollbar that was added by Shelby American after the car’s debut.
